Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Certified Personalized Nutrition Practitioner (CPNP) Certification

Certified Personalized Nutrition Practitioner

To be eligible for the Certified Personalized Nutrition Practitioner (CPNP) credential, candidates must meet each of the following requirements:

1. Education – Degree and Training Requirements

Degree Requirement: The candidate must hold one of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the field of nutrition, dietetics, or related health science field from a United States regionally accredited college or university, or its foreign equivalent; or
  • Master of Science or doctoral degree in health science or medicine from a United States regionally accredited college or university or its foreign equivalent;

Training Requirement: All candidates must have completed all twelve courses of the Integrating Nutrition into Practice training program. Please do not apply to sit for the exam until you have completed the training requirement.

Twelve Required Courses:
  1. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Personalized Nutrition Deep Dive
  2. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Personalized Nutrition Assessment
  3. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Nutrients, Supplements, & Therapeutic Diets
  4. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Nutritional Genomics & Other Omics
  5. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Gastrointestinal Health & the Microbiome
  6. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Cognitive Health
  7. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Immune Resilience & Autoimmune Disease
  8. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Cardiovascular Health
  9. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Metabolic Health & Weight Management
  10. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Impact of Toxicity on Health
  11. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Hormone Health
  12. Integrating Nutrition into Practice: Behavior Change & Motivational Interviewing

2. Examination

The candidate must pass the Certification Examination for Personalized Nutrition Practitioners, offered online. The Certification Examination for Personalized Nutrition Practitioners is designed to test the knowledge and skills acquired by those who have successfully completed the educational requirements outlined above.

The CPNP Exam is offered year-round and can be taken once the training is complete.
The CPNP Certification Fee is $400.

3. Experience
State license or certification as a healthcare practitioner in the U.S. with nutrition in legal scope of practice, including CNS, MD/DO, DC, ND, NP, PA, APRN, Pharmacists, RDN, or foreign equivalent.

Recertification
Each CPNP must recertify their credential every five years. This includes obtaining 30 Continuing Education (CE) credits focused on personalized nutrition and documenting them in the CPNP Recertification Application. There is a $200 recertification fee every five years.
